With all that needs to be considered and executed when embarking on a new construction project, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Our process begins and ends with you, the customer. First, we listen and gain a full understanding of your needs. What does your vision encompass? Do you already have property on which to build? Have you selected an architect that you feel comfortable with or do you need professional guidance and referrals? After establishing the basics, it’s time to dig deeper to truly get a sense of your lifestyle and personal taste. Will you be using your new residence year round, or seasonally? Are you an avid reader, or would you spend more of your down-time in a media room? These questions and others like it will help you get in touch with a set of ideas that will ultimately determine the enjoyment and comfort to be experienced in your new home. We always try to anticipate the things you may not think of during the design phase and take any necessary precautions to save you time and money down the road. No matter what stage of pre-design you are engaged in, we are here to help you take the next steps towards completing your project and realizing your dream.
Now that we have a more complete understanding of your vision, it’s time to move on to the architecture phase where a working set of plans is developed. We have found that most of our clients come to us with an architect or building designer in mind; however, we are always happy to provide recommendations whenever warranted. Once the identity of the architect has been determined, we will work in collaboration with him/her throughout the entirety of your project. Seamless communication between all parties involved in the creation of your new home is always our highest priority and will ensure a positive and rewarding experience throughout the building process!
Now that the architectural design phase is complete, we’re on to engineering. Where an architect takes your dreams and draws them into formidable plans, an engineer takes those plans and figures out how to turn them into a safe and structurally sound reality. Most of this part of the process involves internal communication between the professionals that you’ve hired to oversee the project. You tell us what you want, and we find a way to make it happen.
An estimate of cost is established once we are able to determine what your needs, wants, and budget look like. We only build on a time and material basis, leaving each one of our clients with more options and control at less expense, ensuring that goals are met and our clients are happy, the first time, every time. We meet during initial phases of the project to create a schedule for construction that works based on the size, complexity, and details of the job, and is broken down into reasonable segments. You can count on our multi-generational experience to act as your guide during a process that can otherwise be overwhelming.
At the Mick Olsen Corp., we established an excavation division in 1994 to protect you, the customer. By offering our own in-house excavation services, we aren’t beholden to someone else; in other words, we have total control over timing, cost, and equipment, and the result is a lower cost, timely and hassle-free experience for our clients. In addition to working on our own construction projects, we are available for hire separately for quality excavation services.
